Howard McElroy' experience as a patient living with sickle cell fueled his passion to support, mentor, and direct others to the resources, education and volunteer to be OSWATS first president. We are sad to share Howie is no longer with us, and we feel his absence so much. We miss you Howie, rest in peace Sickle Cell Warrior. OSWATS won't be the same without you.

With a lifetime of managing sickle and navigating the environments impact on sickle cell, and maintaining a full time career with a chronic disease I hope to be able to learn and grow with our OSWATS community.
Gbenie has extensive experience navigating the healthcare system and hopes to find opportunities to share her experiences and learn from others experiences. Her heart is to help others with the journey she's traveled for many years.
