Although around in an informal capacity for years, OSWATS was oficially founded in 2022 by a passionate parent of a child with sickle cell, an adult patient with sickle cell, and healthcare providers who saw the opportunity to help both communities impacted by sickle cell and thalassemia.
Our mission is to provide education, resources, and activities to achieve high quality care for the Oregon and Southwest Washington communities impacted by sickle cell and thalassemia.
Our vision is to become an exceptional community-led resource to support proper management of thalassemia and sickle cell disease that empowers patients and educates the general community, healthcare providers, researchers, and policy-makers to accelerate comprehensive care management and research.
What we might lack in age, we make up in vision and enthusiasm.
